Is Center Hill Dam in Tennessee expected to bust?
Center Hill Dam is a large concern for many people, we the people want to know if we are in danger,we would love to know more about what we should expect if this Dam breaks. we have only been told of larger cities it could effect, but not the people in the very small communities, we only hear bits and peices of news, not enough to satisfy our minds in what we should be doing. when we got our local newspaper this week in this one small town where Al Gore was raised, there was a Evac notice,we are to put in our windows in the case this dam breaks. Why would they publish and hand out the Evac notices if there wasn't a major concern? we the people in these small communities and large comm. want to know more of what is going on in our lives and the safety of our children. Maybe someone out there can ease our minds of what we need to get ready for and possibly when.
Contact your County's Emergency Management Dept, County Courthouse, Your 911 Center, Fire Dept, Sherriff Dept for local updates. Watch local tv news & listen to local radio news station for updated info. You can also call the local radio talk show & as questions.
If you need to evac, you willl need to find out where the local shalter will be. It could be a church, school, fir dept, etc.
If you do evac: VERY IMPORTANT TO TAKE ALL NECESSARY MEDICATIONS, SOCIAL SECURITY CARDS, INSURANCE INFO, BIRTH CERTIFICATES, ID 'S, MILITARY RECORDS, GLASSES, ETC.
If find out where you need to go, mapquest the address, incase that you need to find another route to take or where the otheer shelters are or have a map at the ready.
Buying a weather radio is a great way to hear all the emergency info. You can buy them at Radio shack, Walmart, etc. They work on battery power, so no electricity necessary. NOAA weather alerts, govt emergencies, are all broadcoast on weather alert radios.
Also, have several days change of clothes with you.
Most shelters will not allow pets.
No shelters will allow guns, ilegal drugs, & etc
The Red Cross is a great referencr for evac information. Your local chapter can mail out info to you or go to redcross.org.
