Why Visit Isfahan During Your Trip to Iran
There are many beautiful cities which you must visit during your trip to Iran. Isfahan is one of them. Highlights of Isfahan
O Naghsh-e-jaha square: Also known as Imam Khomeini square, it is one of the main tourist sites in Isfahan. The construction of this square started under Shah Abbas I, Safavid dynasty. Measuring almost 80,000 sq m in size, it accommodates a large number of shops as well as the two most breath-taking mosques of Iran and a palace: Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque, Imam Khomeini Mosque, Aali qapu Palace. The Red Square at Moscow is greatly dwarfed by this structure.
O Bridges and parks: The bridges over the Zyandah Rud are great pieces of architecture. The oldest ones among them are the Pol-e-Shahrestan and Pol-e-Khaju. Another bridge called Pol-e-Jubi was built to provide water to the gardens in the royal palace. The longest bridge covering 295m in length is the Si-o-Seh Pol, which has arches numbering up to 33.
O Artisans and craftsmen: Because of the presence of a number of mosques and other prominent public buildings, the need for artists and craftsmen came up. This led to a number of artists flooding the city of Isfahan. Beautiful works of art were created and left for the generations to come. On your trip to Iran, you will be treated to a great exhibit of these paintings in the museums.
O Persian gardens: When you visit Isfahan, you will notice that the entire city has been built based on the Persian garden plans. The visual effects play with the beauty of sunlight. The structure of the buildings was designed to capture sunlight as much as possible. At the same time, shade is provided from the harsh rays of the Sun by big trees and trellises. Qanats or underground tunnels are used to irrigate the gardens. Your trip to Iran is incomplete without a look at these places.
O Armenian quarter: Don't forget to travel to the Armenian quarter when you visit Isfahan. It is one of the classic examples of universal brotherhood. It has the Armenians staying here in great compatibility with the Iranians. The area is called New Jolfa as a namesake for the original place in Armenia.
O Interesting boulevards: There are many boulevards which you will see on your trip to Iran. These boulevards increase the magnificence of the place. When you visit Isfahan, you will notice how beautifully the city is planned with those boulevards.
O UNESCO sites: In addition to the above mentioned areas of interest, you must also visit Isfahan and see the sites mentioned under UNESCO sites of interest like those in the Imam square. They are the places which signify the rich heritage of Iran.
O Grand Bazaar: Also known as Qeysarriyah Bazaar, this place is famous for beautiful handicrafts intricately designed and made by local craftsmen. This is a must-see when you visit Isfahan.
