what are these stamps worth?

I have been offered a collection of United States Special Delivery stamps from various years and was wondering if they are worth an investment.

The catalog values for used copies of U.S. special delivery stamps are these:

But catalog value is too much to pay unless the stamp is of exceptionally high quality -- perfectly centered, lightly postmarked.

I doubt very much these stamps will appreciate in value any faster than the rate of inflation generally. They would make a poor investment unless the price you are offered is so low that you could sell them right now for more -- but why would that happen?

If you are actually a collector and can appreciate the stamps for themselves, then go ahead, buy and enjoy them.
