Hasn't the Revolution helped Cuba?

Fidel Castro kicked out the dictatorship and the corrupt US backing there which supported it for its own profit, the Literacy rates were very very poor, and now they are at 99.8%, they helped the average people and helped spread wealth to them, rather than the US backed dictatorship, which only benefited the very wealthy and exploited the rest, while the majority poor lived in very bad conditions, Cuba is the only nation in the world which meets the WWF's definition of sustainable development. And all this despite the US trying to economical cripple it.
Obviously things aren't great in Cuba, Human Rights have been breached and such (such as torture, but so has the United States)
My question is, although things aren't great, didn't the Revolution greatly helped the Cuban people on the whole? Why do you agree or disagree?
Im want good Intelligent answers ( they be an agreement or disagreement with what i said), as long as its not an unintelligible rant.
We helped Castro, if you will remember. Cuba qualifies for sustainable development because they haven't had the funds to do much development. Yes, more people get basic healthcare, but a dictatorship for 50 years has not done much else for most Cubans. Many would gladly have the rich classes back for a chance at a "Cuban dream." And small enterprises are popping up all over, a sign that just like in China, people want to make their own money.
